Days of Sailing and Socializing
AUG 20 - 22
The sailing begins Saturday AUG 21 at 9AM. The first race Saturday is s a star shaped course format of approximately 20 NM. The second race will be like a great final just outside the harbour. It starts at 3 PM also Saturday 21. It is a Jagdstart - a reverse handycap sprint based on the times clocked on the distance course. There will be announced a winner for both races.
The courses will be finalized Saturday 21 in the morning at the latest - depending on the forecast.
About Lyø Escape
Only 100 participants
For those of you old enough please rewind to the original round Funen race, Fyn Rundt from Korshavn. Picture the lagoon outside outside of Korshavn filled up with hundreds of boats with RIBs taxiing the participants in and out of the harbor - that's the vision for Lyø Escape. But unlike Fyn Rundt Lyø Escape is a more including event. It's aimed at participants and boats in cruising mode. The competition will be laid back and there will be no sailing after 6 PM. This year we only have room for 100 participants - so please hurry up if you want in.
Lyø Escape is adventure sail racing in it's most relaxed form - sailing in the daytime socializing at night. You could be on your way home from your summer sailing trip with the boat loaded for and a crew consisting of friends and family. Or you could just be looking for a reason to get away on a weekend that combines sailing and socializing.
You'll dock in during Friday AUG 20 and meet up with the rest of the ESCAPISTS for an in informal welcome at at 7 PM in "Anders the Chefs" inn "Hly" on the middle of the Island.
The sailing be on Saturday AUG 21. Everybody back in due time for a beer on the pier and to get organized and drees up for live music, dining and dancing - the theme of the party this year will be the 1980ies. Don't forget your dancing shoes!

Top left: Anders Kraft is a chef and the tenant of the local Inn Hly on Lyø. He is also a keen sailor. He showed that during Vegvisir Race 2017 in his Aphrodite 101 "Kaffe" where he out paced several bigger boats. On his right side is Christine she helps running the Inn and has made the logo for Lyø Escape - she has also a beating heart for sailing. On his left is Elif who has been sailing an every thing from superyachts to kitesurfing. When not at the sea she is working in the Inn. Anders and his merry women are in charge of the very special Lyø Escape dinner Saturday night.
Top right: John Hansen is the harbourmaster of Lyø, he's in charge of stacking the boats in the small Lyø harbour and he will be making room for the first 10 boats in Lyø Escape. If the marina is full the remaining 10 boats will be on the mooring in the lagoon outside the marina. John's wife Anne Mette Vestergaard runs the grocery store on Lyø where you can buy all you need.
Lower left: Søren Westerskov is a professional sea pilot and he represents the local boat club. He is a great organizer and he is the participants guarantee that the deadlines for skipper's meeting, starts and beers on the pier are kept. Søren will also organize the RIB-shuttle making sure that the participants in the bay c can get ashore.
Lower right: Morten Brandt Rasmussen runs a sailing event company. He is the man behind the concepts of Silverrudder Challenge, Vegvisir Race and Round Denmark Race. After being contacted by Anders Kraft about the idea making an event on Lyø he came up with format the is on try this year. During the event he will mainly be engaged in the media coverage.
